Manometry & pH-Z Impedance Procedures
At the reflux centre our high-resolution manometry will determine if you have any esophageal motility disorders, and our pH-Z impedance equipment can detect if you have reflux and the severity of your reflux.
Esophageal Manometry

What does esophageal manometry diagnose?
Esophageal manometry, also known as an esophageal motility study, is a test used to diagnose problems involving the movement and function of your esophagus (the tube that runs from your throat to your stomach)…. Esophageal manometry is used when you have a chronic reflux or swallowing problems that cannot be explained.
24-Hour pH Impedance
Your doctor may order a 24-hour pH impedance to evaluate your reflux. This procedure monitors your pH level (level of acidity) for a prolonged period.
Why It’s Performed?
Doctors may use this test to measure how often acid leads from your esophagus into your stomach, and if this acid is related to your symptoms. Your esophagus has a muscle at the entrance to the stomach in order to keep food from coming back up into the esophagus. If this valve is not working properly, you may experience heartburn, pain or coughing.
